Select Primary to apply a finish to the main panels, or Secondary to create a contrasting element. A single finish across the doors, partitions and pilasters gives a calm, consistent elevation. Alternatively, use the secondary selection to identify the doors or frame the frontage with a contrasting pilaster. The fitting switch lets you compare black powder-coated (BPC) and satin anodised aluminium (SAA) hardware against the chosen surfaces. Stainless-steel fittings and post-formed pilasters can also be discussed when the final cubicle specification is prepared.
Screen colours vary between devices and cannot reproduce every surface texture accurately. Samples are especially important when the cubicles must match another material or an existing room finish.
The selected palette does not need to stop at the cubicle frontage. Volante finishes can be considered with coordinated IPS duct and back panels, while Volante vanity units provide a related dry-area washroom option. Reviewing these elements together helps prevent an accidental clash between the cubicles, service boxing and basin area. Colour can also be used consistently across different rooms, or varied by floor, department or user group to make a larger building easier to navigate.
Once the visual direction is agreed, send the room drawings or dimensions, cubicle quantities, preferred colours, fitting finish, site location and required date. The standard cubicle arrangement has a 1955mm overall door height from the finished floor, including a 135mm floor clearance; any project-specific dimensional or access requirements should be identified with the enquiry.

Warm water and a mild neutral detergent on a soft cloth or sponge is all a Volante panel needs, followed by a wipe with a dry cloth. Avoid abrasive creams, scouring pads and wire wool: they scratch the melamine face and dull the PVC edging permanently. Strong solvent-based cleaners and undiluted bleach should also be avoided on this range – if a stronger cleaning regime is unavoidable, a compact laminate system such as Mirage is the more suitable specification.
The main practical risk with any MFC cubicle is standing water at the floor line combined with damaged edging. The PVC edge is what keeps moisture out of the chipboard core, so mop up standing water rather than leaving it against the panel, and repair or replace edging that has been chipped by trolleys, cleaning machinery or impact. Handled that way, a Volante installation in an office, school or retail washroom holds its appearance for many years.
Very dark plain colours and high-gloss finishes show fingerprints, dust and light scuffing most clearly, particularly around door edges, locks and pull handles. Mid-tone plains, woodgrains and textured finishes disguise daily marks much more effectively and are usually the safer choice for a busy washroom. Where a dark colour is wanted for design reasons, applying it to the pilasters and using a lighter door face is a common compromise. Fitting choice matters too: black powder-coated (BPC) hardware reads as a deliberate contrast against pale panels, while satin anodised aluminium (SAA) is more forgiving of fine surface scratching over time.
Most marker pen lifts from a melamine face with a proprietary washroom-safe cleaner. Test any cleaner on a concealed area first, work from the outside of the mark inwards, and rinse and dry afterwards. Persistent graffiti is one reason schools and public buildings often move to a compact laminate range instead.
Not exactly. Screen calibration, ambient lighting and the surface texture of the real board all change how a colour reads, and this preview cannot reproduce texture at all. Use the tool to shortlist two or three combinations, then ask for physical samples before a tender, an architect’s approval or a final order – especially when the cubicles have to match existing flooring, wall cladding or joinery.
Keep a record of the colour references used on your project. Laminate colours are produced in batches and ranges are periodically revised, so an exact match several years later cannot be guaranteed. On larger schemes it is worth ordering a spare door or divider at the same time as the main order and storing it flat and dry.
